Congratulations new lawyers!!! You might think you only have to spend on the blow-out feasts that you will be holding for all those who prayed for you, but wait, there's more (enter sound from TV-commercials)! You have to pay some more!
So here are a few reminders that I just copied from the Supreme Court website:
The Supreme Court’s Office of the Bar Confidant (OBC) has issued some important reminders for the oath-taking of the 2011 Bar Examinations passers to be held at the Plenary Hall, Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City on March 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
Before the oath-taking, successful 2011 Bar candidates are reminded to secure a clearance from the OBC, and to bring two valid identification cards.
Such clearance is required to be presented to the Cashier of the SC for the payment of the Bar admission fee amounting to Php3,000 and a certification fee of Php100.00, totaling Php3,100. This clearance is also required to be presented to the representative of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), who is stationed at the OBC, for the payment of the IBP annual membership dues of Php1,000 and the building fund fee of Php200.00, totaling Php1,200. Thus, a Bar Exam passer would need to pay a total of Php4,300 before the oath-taking ceremonies.
However, if the Bar Exam passer opts for a lifetime membership to the IBP, a payment of Php13,500 is required in addition to the Bar admission fee and certification fee amounting to Php3,100.
Wow, the price one has to pay before taking the lawyer's oath and signing the roll of attorneys. Hmmm... No wonder attorneys fees are high.
For the full reminders, please check out the SC's website.
For those who didn't make it this year, don't worry, in God's time, you too, will become lawyers.
